Jane's Carousel
Alex proposed to Rachann at Jane's Carousel in Brooklyn Bridge Park - a place that's been woven into their love story from the very beginning. This is where they celebrated their first anniversary after flying 79,964 miles to see each other that year. It's Rachann's favorite place in New York, and anyone who knows her knows about her deep love of carousels - she seeks them out wherever they travel and visits Jane's frequently. It's also where they had every guest at their baby shower ride together, creating one of their most treasured memories.
The Setup
As far as Rachann knew, Cailin was in town offering free childcare, and they were cashing in on that rare opportunity. Alex had planned a romantic dinner at Celestine's, though Rachann was (naturally) extremely late to their reservation, only complicating Alex's meticulously crafted plans. After dinner, they walked through DUMBO headed to a wine bar, when Alex suggested they take a peek at the carousel since it was all lit up. Trying to buy himself some time, he asked a stranger to take this photo on their walk.
The Promise
It was open, and much to her surprise, there was a violinist playing her favorite composer, Vivaldi. Alex got down on one knee and promised to love her and their family forever. Then all of a sudden the carousel started moving and cheering erupted - their friends, family, and boys were on the other side waiting with champagne.
