OUR LOVE STORY

How We Met
Rachann was visiting her best friend Meredith in LA when Meredith invited her to drinks at The Mondrian's Skybar in West Hollywood. (Real ones might recognize this as the scene of many iconic Vanderpump Rules nights out.) Meredith promised they'd only stay for a "drink or two" before ditching these guys and heading to dinner. She also mentioned her date had a friend there so it would be super casual.

When Rachann arrived, Meredith and her date were running behind so they told her to find the friend by the pool bar. She found a guy in a black t-shirt and khakis, drink in hand, people and sunset-watching, radiating the most amazing, friendly energy. Always shy at first, Rachann didn't say much for the first few hours. But that drink or two? That turned into an epic night out in WeHo complete with go-go dancers, Lance Bass, The Roots, and Lisa Vanderpump herself.

Alex, ever the gentleman, attempted to buy Rachann a drink (declined), asked for her number (declined), and tried making small talk (not interested). But once they were all back at the hotel, something clicked and they finally started chatting. That chat turned into talking until the sun came up, with Alex pretending he didn't know about Snapchat and suggesting she show him "how it works." That heavily filtered first photo can be seen here as a 2016 timestamp, beginning something both were completely unaware of.
The next morning Alex began messaging - small funny quips at first, then questions, then he finally sent his phone number. Rachann ignored that. A week later he took another chance asking for her number, and this time she shared it. Daily texts led to phone calls, which led to... emails? Oddly, Alex asked for her email one day, and when she checked it, he had sent a flight to NYC to "use or not," whatever she was comfortable with, for Halloween weekend.

After a lot of thought, she took the chance. Alex had planned the most thoughtful weekend full of museums, dinners, coffee dates, and introductions to his world. Two hours after she landed back home, her phone rang: "I have to see you again. How's two weeks from now?"

They kept this up for four years until Rachann and Sawyer finally made the move to NYC, where they've been for 5 years now. Since then, they've traveled the world together, survived a pandemic as expats, welcomed Giorgio into their family, and are celebrating their 9-year anniversary this year...on Halloween weekend.
